Well, with the huge success of my last post (one that shockingly turned out to be the most hit post I’ve ever had), I figured a little Journey follow-up would do the body some good. Also, they were a band I listened to back in my old WQLT listening days. Therefore, here is your Monday Double Wammy!

Special thanks to Youtube poster Jobernz for the link that drew the big day.

Okay, as some of you know, I’m a closet Journey fan. I’m not a fan to the point to owning lots of stuff and going to concerts… but I like them well enough to sing Open Arms in the car. Remember… don’t tell anyone!

Either way, I’m in Wal-Mart last night when I pass the electronics section and hear some Journey tunes coming from the television area. At first, I assume it is the radio. However, I look up a notice a live show on the televisions and it is at this point that it hits me… that has to be Steve Perry singing!

Now, for those of you who are not so musically inclined, Steve Perry is the lead singer Journey became famous with who left the band over ten years ago. They did replace him, but the guy was terrible and I refused to listen to anything of Journey’s that was new.

I digress…

As I continued to listen and watch the video, it continued to sound more and more like Perry, although the had not shown him. At this point, I began to get excited thinking, “Hey… these guys might be worth going and seeing now.” Then… all of a sudden… they cut to the lead singer…

I nearly fainted…

It wasn’t Steve Perry… it was some Philippino guy…

Don’t believe me… take a gander…

Well… I have one thing to say… this guy…

ROCKS!

Congrats to Journey on picking up Arnel Pineda… dude is young, hip… and sounds just like Perry! Journey, if you come to Huntsville… I’m there with Open Arms, baby!

Well, real life has invaded over the past couple of weeks and I know that it has become obvious in my posting. However, I glad to say that today is my Thursday and I’m hoping to get a good long weekend bounce before I see next Monday. Either way, sorry for the lack of content, my dear reader. Please do not fear, Street Preacher is getting back on his feet with content galore to come!

As many of you know, I am a self confessed KISS fan. I’m not proud of it, but I do like a good rock riff when I hear it and they have managed a few. Either way, anyone who has ever seen or heard anything about KISS knows that Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley are a bit… well… eccentric. And, Gene, at least, loves his money. So, what new nifty idea do they have now? How about a television show designed to create KISS II?

Yeah, you read that right. There is “talk” of a future reality television show where a newer version of KISS is formed. Mind you, the music and costumes will be the same… just with a number two group. I mean, number one, why? I know they have tons of fans and they are a bit too money hungry… but why cause possible ruin to your reputation through the vocals of a cover band? Also, can the world handle four more ugly guys dressed in horrific make-up and platform shoes singing arena tunes? Well, okay, I did see them without the make-up… it’s a necessity.

I mean… guys, just hang it up when you are done. The world isn’t ready for KISS II. Especially if they do an Unmasked album…

Well, it’s summer time and it is hot. And guess what, kiddies? School is out for summer!

“School’s been blown to pieces!”

Roll Tide!

Bad Video, Good Song.

A Captist? Or is it a Cathtist?

Here was an interesting little read from the Smoking Gun this morning…

When the minister, Robert Lavala, slightly touched his forehead, the Knoxville-area man “received the spirit and fell backwards.” Except nobody was there to catch him, Lincoln charges in a $2.5 million lawsuit filed yesterday against Lakewind Church and its pastors.

I mean, c’mon… really? Now if it had been Benny Hinn, I might could see it… but… what? Ah well, I’m not a charismatic personally and I think it might be a good thing.

But keep in mind… it could be worse…

YIPES!
